At the age of 91, the aristocrat Reinaldo Herrera, known as a fashion icon, socialite, writer, and editor, passed away in New York. Herrera, also recognized for being the husband of Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera, died at his residence. The news was confirmed by Titina Penzini, a family friend, through a social media message in which she expressed her condolences to Carolina Herrera and her daughters.
Reinaldo Herrera, born in Caracas in 1934, came from a noble family, being the son of Reinaldo Herrera Uslar, Marquis of Torre Casa. He married Carolina after four years of knowing each other in Venezuela, then settling in New York, where Reinaldo began working at Vanity Fair. From their marriage, two daughters were born, joining Carolina's two daughters from her previous union.
Although he did not work directly for the Carolina Herrera brand, Reinaldo Herrera was instrumental in its creation in 1980. Thanks to his contacts in high society, the designer quickly established herself in the fashion industry, dressing figures like Queen Elizabeth II and Jackie Onassis. Reinaldo's home became a gathering place for many personalities in the eighties and nineties.
After his passing at his residence in New York, Reinaldo Herrera is expected to be buried in Venezuela following a funeral scheduled for Friday. Although the causes of his death have not been revealed, his legacy in fashion and high society will forever be marked.
